Business Coaches and Mentors | JA Company Program 2021

Overview

JA Ghana is seeking highly motivated and skilled business coaches and mentors who share in JA’s mission of empowering young people for future economic success to mentor and coach young entrepreneurs in JA’s premier entrepreneurship program for senior high schools. Students learn to start and run a business in school with support from their teachers and volunteers from the business community.

The program culminates in the High School Business Pitch Competition, JA Ghana’s annual celebration of the achievements of students across the country participating in the Company Program. At the event, the student entrepreneurs will stand the chance of winning a host of other amazing prizes. The winning school will also have the opportunity to represent Ghana at JA’s international competition, which brings together students from across Africa who will proudly present their businesses and key takeaways from their experiences in the JA Company Program.

Role Summary

The business coach and mentor is expected to:

  • Join monthly virtual meetings with students and teachers
  • Guide students to ideate and build business concepts
  • Provide feedback to students on their market research and targeting
  • Coach students to pitch their business at the culmination of the program in the business pitch competition

Why Volunteer

Volunteers are critical to the success of our programs and JA volunteers have the opportunity to impact a large number of students in a short span of time. As a volunteer, you will inspire and prepare young people for their futures and help youth avoid the financial pitfalls so many adults currently face.

What is provided to Volunteers

  • JA provides volunteers with the requisite program materials and resources to help them appreciate the learning process students undergo.
  • JA will also train volunteers on how to use the materials, and will connect them to a teacher in their assigned school.
  • The volunteer and teacher have the flexibility to determine a virtual meeting schedule. A teacher will be with students throughout any virtual interactions with volunteers. 
  • The volunteer will also have a JA contact who will be available to answer any questions and provide any assistance they may need.
