JA GHANA LAUNCHES THE LOCAL ALUMNI NETWORK

A host of previous beneficiaries of Junior Achievement Programs in Ghana joined current students and partners to launch the JA Ghana Alumni Network at the 2019 JA Ghana Company of the Year (COY) competition held in Accra on 12 October 2019 at the SB Incubator.
This year, JA is celebrating globally, 100 years of achievement in inspiring young entrepreneurs in the over 100 countries in which its work impact. As part of this celebration, JA is globalizing its alumni network into an online community called Gather, where the over 100 million students who have benefitted from JA programs would share their stories and inspire each other.
The JA Ghana Alumni Network takes a cue from this global movement to locally mobilize past members of JA programs into a community of shared growth, mentorship and opportunities.
Speaking at the event, the Founding President of the Alumni Network, highlighted the goals of the community in bridging the gap between member inactivity and collaboration after graduation from JA Programs.
“We are pleased to launch the JA Ghana Alumni network to provide former JA program participants with further experience and opportunities, encourage them to strengthen their passion for entrepreneurship and build international networks of like-minded people,” Mr. Nyame said in his opening speech.
As an enabler of skills growth and development, JA has achieved a lot of success and the work of the Alumni network would be leverage on past development to create even greater impact. The Program Manager of JA Ghana, Abeiku Greene, noted that “the JA Ghana Alumni Network is important because it will help us at JA Ghana to highlight the past, present and future of JA in Ghana.”
As part of the launch, a panel discussion moderated by Isaac Aboah, Programs Assistant for JA Ghana hosted previous alumni to share their stories of impact, failures and successes. The discussion gave a snapshot of how JA programs have accelerated the professional growth of the highly established panelists of young entrepreneurs.
Frances Ofori, Marketing and Communications Executive at Prudential Life Insurance Ghana and a member of the JA Ghana Board of Directors was present as the keynote speaker to launch the event.
“Our network is already off to a great start and I am excited to see what we can accomplish together in the next months and beyond – for our ourselves, the Alumni, JA Ghana and JA Worldwide and most importantly for the thousands that we can bring into our fold” she remarked in her speech.
