Hours:  40 hours/week (8:30am – 5pm); additional hours as necessary

ABOUT JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT (JA) GHANA

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Programs Officer is responsible for leading the management and implementation of assigned programs at JA Ghana. The PO will also provide support in program design and development, training programs, special events, monitoring and evaluation and reporting, and liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of all programs. 

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare scheduled donor reports for final review and submission per grant agreement
  • Implement appropriate methods to guarantee fidelity to program models
  • Engage in strategic alliances with leading government and other key agencies in Ghana
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all programs
  • Oversee implementation of all assigned programs to meet growth goals in Ghana
  • Conduct trainings for facilitators, teachers and/or other channel partners who implement the program curriculums
  • Develop high quality mid-cycle and final reports for all assigned programs and projects for final review by Executive Director 
  • Ensure data on all learners engaged in assigned projects are captured in JA Ghana’s database for learners and kept securely in accordance with the data protection policy of JA Ghana 
  • Implement appropriate methods to guarantee fidelity to program models
  • Work with the Executive Director to set goals for program growth and to develop new locally-relevant programs
  • Research and develop key messages and content for speeches, documentaries, and presentations
  • Promote and engage in strategic partnerships with organizations that provide strategic support to JA Ghana product development and implementation efforts
  • Leverage and solidify relations with different stakeholders, including ministries of social welfare, education, youth and gender, individual specialists, think tanks, vocational schools, youth groups, other NGOs, and corporations
  • Support JA Ghana Executive Director in fundraising efforts 
  • Ensure that information on funders, prospects, partners, board members and other stakeholders are accurately documented and frequently updated.
  • Work with the Executive Director in setting and executing strategies that ensure the growth of JA programs in Ghana
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, Social Work, Education or related field. Master’s degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in a programs coordination or project management role, fast paced executive office and/or client engagement environment
  • Familiarity with education, youth, entrepreneurship and poverty issues
  • Maturity, discreetness and ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • High levels of accountability and drive
  • High level of attention to detail and proven ability to work independently and within a group under strict deadlines on multiple projects
  • Strong organizational, time management, and active listening skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong written and spoken English language skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Proficiency with major social networking sites
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with advanced database management systems
  • Friendly disposition and professional appearance
  • Familiarity with or knowledge of public and private schools and ability to leverage networks to develop partnerships with these institutions
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at different levels
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally to program sites
  • Availability to conduct trainings at program sites on weekends, as needed

Desired

  • Experience in social entrepreneurship and youth economic empowerment
  • Experience in implementing education programs
