Recruitment: Programs Assistant

JA Ghana is looking to hire a Programs Assistant to join its team. The Programs Assistant is responsible for supporting the Programs Manager with the management and implementation of all JA programs in Ghana. As well, the PA will provide support for stakeholder engagement and special events.

The PA will provide support in program design and development, training programs, special events, monitoring and evaluation and reporting, and liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of all programs.

Reports to:    Programs Manager

Location:       East Legon – Accra, Ghana

Hours:             8:00am – 5:00pm (May be requested to work later when necessary)



  • Assist Programs Manager with program implementation and support program monitoring and growth across the country
  • Provide classroom monitoring of programs
  • Develop new and/or update existing support tools for program implementation such as best practice guidelines for implementation, volunteer identification, training and program monitoring and evaluation
  • Develop initial drafts of programs reports and submit to Programs Manager for review
  • Monitoring & Evaluation:
    • Document surveys received for different programs according to defined protocol
    • Assist with on-boarding and supervision of data entry/analysis interns
    • Assist with compilation of annual reporting entries on the Hewitt system
  • Assist with planning of annual National Company of the Year Competition and other special events (workshops, launch events) as requested
  • Assist with the development of JA Ghana Annual Reports, Factsheets, Brochures etc. by pulling relevant program information for Marketing team


  • Track grant process from beginning to end, including opportunity identification, proposal development and submission
  • Assist with research for new funding opportunities and for contextual data, key facts and statistics for use in proposals
  • Assist in the development of initial drafts of:
    • Letters of Interest
    • Concept notes
    • Proposals


  • Capture and regularly update information on funders, prospects, partners, board members and other stakeholders in database
  • Respond to or escalate email requests received to the general email account


  • Lead administrative processes for the office (record keeping, scheduling, minute taking for staff meetings etc.)


  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Economics, Program Management, Education or other relevant field
    • Academic or professional training or experience in program monitoring and evaluation
    • At least 1-2 years of relevant full-time work experience (internship experience also acceptable)
    • Strong written & oral communication skills
    • High level of attention to detail and organized
    • Strong interest in social entrepreneurship and youth economic empowerment
    • Strong computer literacy (must be proficient with MS Office)
    • Strong work ethic, maturity, fast learner and high level of discernment
    • Native proficiency in English
