2024 has been a remarkable year for JA Ghana, where we empowered over 52,000 young people across Ghana through education, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness programmes. By providing the skills and tools young people need to thrive in today’s fast-changing world, we’re helping to shape the next generation of leaders and innovators.
Highlights of 2024
Through 17 impactful programmes, events, and competitions, JA Ghana directly reached 14,600 youth, while an additional 37,763 individuals benefited from educational content via social media, webinars, and virtual events. Key initiatives like the Pathways to Work Summit and Career Readiness Webinar Series extended our reach, enabling broader engagement across the country.
Driving Entrepreneurship & Innovation
JA Company Programme: Over 2,000 high school students gained hands-on experience running businesses, culminating in the National Business Pitch Competition where 60 young entrepreneurs presented solutions tackling issues in agriculture, health tech, and climate change.
Delta Innovation Camp: This unique programme introduced 112 youth to problem-solving using design thinking and teamwork.
JA DEEP: An interactive online curriculum helped 517 students launch businesses addressing community challenges.
Foodathon: A collaboration with Europe and Africa empowering 24 youth to innovate in sustainable food systems.
Transforming Literacy
Cha-Ching Programme: Over 10,000 primary school students were introduced to money management principles: earning, saving, spending, and donating wisely.
Grow with Google (GWG): 478 youth gained valuable digital literacy and work readiness skills, preparing for technology-driven careers.
Preparing Youth for the Future of Work
Achieve Programme: This personal development initiative equipped 617 students with teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
GWG Internship: Stemming from the Grow with Google programme, 72 young people transitioned knowledge learnt from the GWG courses into workplace experience, gaining internships at startups and SMEs.
Job Shadow Programme: 31 young people explored careers and gained mentorship by shadowing professionals.
Events & Community Engagement
The National Business Pitch Competition (NBPC): Showcasing the entrepreneurial talent of 60 young people tackling real-world challenges with over 100+ guests in attendance.
GIS Day Celebration: A STEM-focused event involving 456 youth where Sambus Geospatial Limited (SGL) and JA Ghana teamed up to engage students from O’Reilly Senior High, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Ghana International School in exploring the world of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and career opportunities in the field.
Back 2 Basics (B2B): A collaborative monthly entrepreneurship event organised by JA Ghana, Boxplay Ventures and SB Incubator inspired 370 participants through insights from expert speakers.
Readafest Competition: 212 students enhanced their reading, storytelling, and creativity.
