Building Financially Smart Futures: Cha-Ching Teacher Training in the Northern Region

Savelugu TT comes to an end

On 27th March 2025, the energy at Lighthouse Chapel in Savelugu was unmistakable.

Teachers from across the Northern Region gathered for a powerful day of learning, connection, and inspiration, all focused on one important goal: equipping themselves to confidently deliver financial literacy education through the Cha-Ching program.

A remarkable 81 teachers participated, representing a wide range of schools and communities.

Special attention was given to ensuring inclusivity, thoughtful arrangements allowed mothers with young children to attend and engage fully.

The presence of an officer from the Ghana Education Service (GES) demonstrated strong institutional backing, underlining the importance of financial literacy in today’s educational landscape.

The day’s success was built on a strong foundation of collaboration.
A pre-training meeting with GES officials highlighted the programme’s potential to nurture financially smart and responsible young citizens.
During the session, GES representatives shared practical advice on aligning the Cha-Ching lessons with existing classroom work and encouraged teachers to bring the lessons to life for their students.

The training unpacked the four essential financial pillars:

  • Earn

  • Save

  • Spend

  • Donate

Teachers were not just introduced to concepts, they were equipped with child-centred, interactive teaching strategies.

Techniques like role-playing, group work, storytelling, and creative assessments were discussed, ensuring that financial education will be fun, relatable, and impactful for every child.
