The ”My Digital World” Program by Meta (formally Facebook) is focused on empowering the youth with online safety skills and tools. Digital literacy is paramount to how society functions, be it how we live, interact with one another, work, or even learn.
The goal of the program is to enable the youth, teachers, parents, and the general public to learn adequate skills needed to navigate and understand the online space. In addition, it seeks to build their skills in online safety, news and media literacy, privacy, digital citizenship, and more.
The objectives of the My Digital World Program are to:
- Stimulate and sensitize students, educators, and parents on the robust processes required to ensure online safety.
- Establish clear mechanisms to identify, intervene and escalate an incident, where appropriate.
- Facilitate the safe, responsible, and respectable use of technology to support online teaching & learning.
- Position students, educators, and parents to identify and/or avoid the risks and maximize opportunities for online safety.
